Beauty Directory Blogger June Unboxing

By heylinni - 3:48 PM

It's semester holidays right now and yet I'm feeling so exhausted! I'm going away 3 times within 1 month - twice to ski! :D That's partly why I haven't been posting so much, even though all these reviews are lining up and needing to be published soon :O

Today's review is the Beauty Directory June Unboxing. It was sent to me by Beauty Directory, which is an online community that connects Beauty Bloggers as well as companies. I'd highly recommend any Australian bloggers to join the community because you can network with great firms and other content creators on there. It's a super amazing opportunity! Products sent in this box included such brands as Swisse, Bioelements, Scunci, Kosmea and Vanessa Megan. They're mostly hair accessories and skin care stuff. It was actually a massive surprise getting sent such a full box of quality items, so I was extremely excited and happy to sift through it all and experience everything.

One of the first items I tried from the Skincare section was this Vanessa Megan Face Oil Serum. This is a pretty magical product. Vanessa Megan's products were born with the motto that 'you'd never put anything on your face that you wouldn't eat'. The organisation focuses on a quest to find a chemical free product that has regenerating and healing properties for the skin. So they only use the finest quality natural and organic ingredients. The packaging is 100% recyclable and minimises waste, and the company is certified Cruelty free. As you can see, Vanessa Megan is certainly a corporately responsible company, with strong morals and ethics to cater for the wider community. Their skincare line is vast and tailored to particular skin types, so if you're curious as to which product would work best for you, make sure to take their online quiz, which customises products to you.
The Nature's Elixir Face Oil is an intensely nourishing, skin strengthening organic facial oil that helps replenish, restore and promote skin cell growth. This all helps to reduce pigmentation and blemishes. The oils contain Vitamin A, E, P and K, so essentially applying the oil is like giving your face this multivitamin boost. The blend of ingredients functions to even skin tone, lift sagging skin, bring tone to the surface of the skin and minimise pore size. Evidently, it's a bit of a wonder of an oil and can be used to improve your skin quality quite a lot. It's most suited towards normal skin types.

The face oil contains argan oil, seabuckthorn oil, pumpkin seed oil, essential rosemary, lemongrass and vetiver oils. So what is the importance of each?

Argan oil: High in Vitamin E. This neturalises free radicals. It's high in fatty acids (Omega 6 and Omega 9), which are necessary for healthy skin growth, keeping cells moist, supple and protecting against entry of harmful pathogens. It's non-comodogenic, so it can be safely used on acne prone skin to relieve irritation and prevent pore clogging.

Seabuckthorn oil: Natural source of carotenoids, beta-carotene, vitamin E, vitamin K1 and beta-sitosterol and an outstanding source of a unique array of other health-promoting natural components.

Pumpkin seed oil: Pumpkin seeds are a rich source of vitamin E, selenium, zinc and essential fatty acids for anti-ageing. Zinc maintains natural collagen levels for skin elasticity.

Rosemary essential oil: Contains naturally powerful antioxidants for anti-ageing skincare due to its powerful regenerating, rejuvenating and stimulating activities. It also lightens skin and naturally corrects spots.

Lemongrass essential oil: Minimises pore size and tightens elastin fibres in the epidermis.

Vetiver essential oil: Increases blood flow and evens out the skin tone.

This elixir can be purchased on the Vanessa Megan Website in 20mL or 50mL at $79.95 and $159.95 respectively. Though it is pretty pricey, it's an extremely effective oil for those who are dealing with skin issues. It has a multi-functional purpose and is very rejuvenating for the face. After applying it, I felt a lot more elasticity and moisture to my skin.

Next is this interesting Swisse beauty product; the Micellar Makeup Remover. I find it really interesting because Swisse is a brand typically known for their vitamins and I had no idea that they even had a beauty items so it was such a surprise to see this! It's a combination of micellar water and cucumber, so it's very refreshing on the face. It's also a product for all skin types, which can be bought on the Swisse Website for only $10.95.
The Swisse makeup remover is natural, gentle and rinse-free so it's very easy to get your face clean after a long day of wearing makeup. Key ingredients in the mix are cucumber fruit extract, glycerin, corn and coconut, carrageenan, sodium citrate, citric acid, dehydroacetic acid and benzyl alcohol. They leave out parabens, mineral oils, silicones, petrolatum, peroxide and all harmful ingredients. Micellar water is actually the latest craze, since it's the lazy girls dream. You can just soak a cotton pad with it and remove makeup without having to rinse your face later! The Micellar water aims to cleanse and remove makeup, sebum and skin impurities. You can also use it around the eyes since it's very pure and contains no alcohol or soap.
I just tried this micellar water the other day after creating an upcoming tutorial. I found it super effective and very cooling on my face. It was also great at removing all traces of makeup, even the annoying clumpy mascara bits on my eyelashes. There is a little scent of the water, which is very cucumber-y and fruity. I also find it quite eco-friendly, since there's no animal testing. The price is amazing for the quality so I'd highly recommend switching to this for removing makeup.

The Kosmea Rose Body Lotion is a lightweight body lotion that softens, hydrates and firms the skin. It is formulated with Kosmea's signature certified organic rosehip oil, gotu kola and hyalurolift to boost antioxidants, stimulate collagen production, smooth lines and plump skin. The product comes in a 125mL bottle at the price of $29.95 on the Kosmea website. It has a rose infused fragrance, which smells really delicious so it's great to apply on the skin and leave me smelling flowery :)
The direction is to use this every day to keep the skin beautifully soft and fragrant. You want to generously apply it over the body and massage for full absorption because it is SO IMPORTANT to ensure your skin is properly moisturised. Kosmea oil is very good for the skin and reduces ageing of the skin and the development of wrinkles. The lotion is more watery than a cream and lighter on the skin. It's a lot less oily and obvious that you've applied it.

Next up, is Bioelements Skincare travel pack. Everything is so small and compact, since you're meant to be able to take it with you is a little purse when you go on vacation. Travel does put a lot of strain on the skin, so it's essential to take care and use products like these when you go away. They are all flight friendly, so perfect for long overseas trips!! You can find the collection of travel-sized items at this link
Inside this particular travel pack, I received:

Bioelements Lutein Indoor Protective Day Creme:
This protects against indoor environmental 'assaults', providing high impact hydration and restores the skin's protective barrier. It is an antioxidant moisturiser that contains lutein extracted from marigold petals to filter out the potentially skin ageing effects of blue rays from artificial lighting. It also contains beta-glucan, sweet almond and jojoba oils to enhance skin's natural moisture barrier, shielding it from low humidity, forced heat and stale, re-circulated air. It must be used daily to smoothen skin and keep it radiant. It's suitable for all skin types and should be applied day or night.

Bioelements Pumice Peel
This Pumice Peel contains these ultra-fine pumice crystals that peel away dead skin layers to visibly reduce the appearance of pores and acne scars. It leaves skin feeling ultimately smoother and more clarified with nourishing plant extracts and essential oils to soothe, smooth and comfort complexion.

Bioelements Gel Therapy
This rehydrates parched skin and locks in comforting moisture for more radiant skin. It has essential earth minerals and stress-resisting plant extracts. You use it as a 10-minute mask to strengthen, smooth and balance the skin, to leave it refreshed, revived and infused with much-needed moisture.

THEN, Beauty Directory ALSO sent me a whole bunch of Scunci hair accessories from their new line, 'Comfy Collection'. There were hairbands, hairties, headbands, etc etc.! So good! The point of this collection is to combine loungewear and luxe. It's perfect to wear as a seductive and stylish range of hair accessories. Scunci was inspired by the recent comfy trend, with big celebrities like Rihanna and Rita Ora wearing them on the runway. So the brand focused on the idea of mindfulness and balance. Each item is made of super sift, high-end fabrics with luxe embellishments like hosiery, delicate braiding and lace. The colour palette is also very appealing; dusty pinks, calming blues and lavender. The Scunci lightweight, no slip grip technology provide the ultimate comfort in your hair.
You can find most of these products on the Scunci Website or at local retailers like Priceline.

Here are a few of the Scunci items that I personally gave a go:
This head shaping hairband is super cool. It's made of some flexible, molding material, so it can essentially fit on any head shape. The hairband melds into the shape of your head and allows it to grip and sit comfortably and easily. The black colour also makes it a very subtle accessory, almost unseen when I wear it.

These thick hair ties are perfect for a lazy day. Their scrunched appearance makes them look kind of like a scrunchie-hair tie hybrid. They're very flexible and stretchy and the selection of colour is quite complimentary to dark hair colours. The ribbing on the material ensures a strong grip once tied in the hair

There were also some typical hair ties, which I found to be very strong and sturdy. I've been using these ones a lot the past few days so I found them the most useful!!

Next is the huge haul of hairbands in the box.
Starting with this duo of braided, thin hairbands. I love the colour combination, with the super dusty rose shade and a dark black. They can be both worn at the same time, or just separately. They material is quite thin and very sleek. The braiding also adds a nice, aesthetic touch to the hairband, giving it the luxe aura.

This lavender Scunci headband came in a single pack. It's got a very interesting design, specifically to create extra grip on hair. The elastic is quite firm and the exterior patterns add a touch of cuteness to the headband. The inside has a siliconey, sticky material on it, so that when you wear the headband, it won't slip off very easily.

These two cotton headbands are made out of extremely soft material! They're very comfortable to wear, and came in a two-pack with a dusty pink and a maroon colour. I really loved the lounge feel to the headbands, and they are very convenient for my lazy days. The extra bit of detailing also makes them look really nice and classy, at the right level of simplicity.

This next black, braided headband is definitely my favourite one of the lot! It's got a big, chunky braid right in the middle and gives off a very urban streetwear look that I adore. The black makes it blend in with my hair really well, so it doesn't look too awkward, and it's tight but very comfortable to wear. I think that this is a great piece to obtain to wear out to places like school or uni, since it combines practicality with fashion.

And finally, the last product in the box was a set of these Scunci thin hairbands, best for sports and comfort wear. They are really effective in acting as a thin, unnoticeable hairband for pushing the hair out of your face. I love that they come in a pack of four, because the design individually is pretty plain. So when I get bored, I can just swap around the colours and match up with any outfit combination!

So that was a recap of all the products in this awesome Beauty Directory June Box! It's got a lot of cool products focusing on beauty skincare and hair accessories. My favourite item is probably the Swisse Micellar Water since I use it so regularly and it's incredibly protective for my face when I'm removing makeup :)

I hope you enjoyed this longgggg post and look forward to the next one as I will be trying to post at least once a week from here on out haahah :)
