Etude House BB Cream Cotton Fit Review

By heylinni - 1:43 PM

BB Cream is one of the most popular and essential pieces in ulzzang makeup nowadays. It is a staple item which is important to have as base makeup, as it's function is to whiten and smooth out your skin (remember, white skin is hugely valued in Asian culture!). There are a huge variety of brands of BB creams with notable ones being Skin 79, Skinfood and of course, the Etude House range of BB creams!

I recently purchased the Etude House Cotton Fit BB Cream from AU Shopping Spree, however it didn't manage to safely get to my house, because I chose not to order with tracking D: So word of advice - Always choose tracking! Better safe than sorry.

I then went onto Ebay and bought the same BB Cream for around 13 dollars, which is really cheap and well under the cost of base makeup from established online beauty shops like Sasa! The product arrived safely in just over a week and I was very happy with the condition it was in. If you are interested in purchasing it, I suggest just hopping onto Ebay and searching 'Etude House Cotton Fit BB Cream' and a couple of choices will pop up.
I adore the packaging of this product. Etude House products always have the best looking packaging, and it's obvious they put a lot of effort into every detail, even the outer box! It looks so sweet and very beautiful. The Cotton Fit BB Cream bottle has a pearly sheen and has a fresh, young and vibrant feel to it. It is a 60g tube, which can last quite a while. Etude House also have a couple of other BB Cream's in their line, such as the Etude House Bright Fit BB Cream which is an older type.
The BB Cream has sun protection qualities with SPF30 and also is 'whitening and anti-wrinkle/anti-darkening'. The box describes it as:

'This all day pearly bright skin BB Cream perfectly glides onto skin providing clear and bright complexion with a smooth, cotton-like powdery finish for flawless skin.
There are 3 different shades of the Cotton Fit BB Cream. They are the N02 (Light Beige), W13 (Natural Beige) and W24 (Honey Beige). I chose the lightest shade (N02) because I want the super white ulzzang skin ahahah, I don't know if that was the right choice.
The tube has a nice dispenser top that you press down to squeeze out little blobs of cream each time.

Ok, so now onto how the Etude House BB Cream works on the skin!
This is a photo without any makeup/photoshopping of skin etc etc. My skin is typically quite dry and a little dark, due to constant tanning from the Australian sun. Plus, you can see my skin isn't quite as clear as you see in my usual pictures.
Up close, you can see I have a lot of faint freckles, which I will be able to cover up later on with the BB Cream ^_^
Here's what I look like AFTER applying the Etude House BB Cream. I know it looks completely odd right now, with just BB Cream on (it's a little like I put a white mask on) T_T. Perhaps I chose a shade that was a little too light for my skin tone. However, it does the job and manages to whiten my skin HEAPS.
Although the BB Cream shade looks unnatural on me right now, you can check out photos at the bottom of this post where I have full makeup on and it looks great :)
Here are swatches of the product on my skin. Once you rub it in, it noticeably lightens the skin. The BB Cream has a very wide spread but isn't over-watery. It sits on the skin comfortably and feels more like a powder than oil on your face. I'd advise applying it with your fingers rather than a brush, so to get a nice, even coverage. :)
I also want to add that the scent of the BB Cream is really nice at first, it's reminds me of the smell of baby powder, but I'm getting sick of it now as I use it more and more often.

Here are some more photos that I took on the day of the review. Ratings and pros and cons below!
My ratings ➢

Effectiveness ♥︎♥︎♥︎♡♡

The BB cream is fantastic in lightening my skin and giving it that ulzzang glow. It's also managed to cover up my freckles and even out the tone of my complexion. However, it makes my face look a little dryer than usual and does not cover up bumps well.

Comfort ♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♡

This is very comfortable to wear and does not feel oily at all! In fact, like stated before, it's very much like a powder. Only thing is, it's not like I don't notice it when I've got it on. It feels a little taxing on my face :P

Price ♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎

The price is AMAZING. It's only 13 dollars, which is like skipping out on buying a new top to get this staple makeup item. Plus this tube of BB cream will last for a very long time since you don't need much each time you use it.

Shade ♥︎♥︎♥︎♡♡

The shade is the not quite the right colour for my skin tone. I like that it whitens my skin, but I can't wear it on it's own otherwise I look so weird. I've heard that some BB creams make your skin tone grayish and zombie-like, so I'm glad that the Etude House ones don't do that.
Pros
✓ Completely affordable price
✓ Fast shipping
✓ Beautiful packaging
✓ Essential for ulzzangs - the skin is whitened effectively
✓ Comfortable and non-oily
✓ Long-lasting
✓ Even coverage and smoothes out tone
Cons
✕ Too light for skin
✕ Doesn't cover up acne/pimples
✕ Dries up the skin
✕ I'm getting sick of the scent
Hope you enjoyed this review. Overall, I do really like this BB cream and would continue to buy it. If you've got any suggestions for other brands, let me know in the comments :)

  1. Is this suitable for drier skin types? And since it lightens the face, maybe its more useful in the winter time. I'll put this product in consideration when choosing my next bbcream to try! Thank you for the review ^3^

    2. Choose the Bright Fit one for Dry Skin. The Cotton Fit Is for combination/Dry Skin

    3. I've heard Cotton Fit is for oily skin - it's mattifying so it wouldn't be the best idea for dry skin for daily use :)

  2. Wow this tube is absolutely huge! I love ordering Korean cosmetics off eBay cause it's usually cheaper than ordering off beauty website - and free shipping! I love how it's long-lasting and not oily - perfect for me cause my skin is super oily in summer! x

  3. we're about the same color and i tried the 2 darkest colors from this line....no match. the undertones are too pink and the powdery finish looked like crap on my skin. if you haven't tried the bright fit version you definitely should. you're probably closer to w15 like me which has a warmer undertone (plus it is dewy, not powdery so it gives a more youthful look!).

  22. Maybe you took a wrong shade, so that it's look like you put a white mask on your face. Maybe W13 (natural beige) will fit to you ^^
Better you choose bright fit since your skin is dry, bright fit will give you more glowy effect that cotton fit
