Etude House May Pink Box

By heylinni - 10:05 AM

Hey readers! I think I mentioned this once on my Facebook Page, but I'm so excited to announce here that I'm an Etude House Pink Bird Blogger now!! :) This is like a dream come true, because Etude House are my favourite brand ever in terms of cosmetics, due to their combination of decent quality product, affordable price and the BEST packaging EVER. For those that don't know, Etude House is one of the most prolific cosmetics chains in Korea, and globally as well. It sells anything and everything beauty-related and has notable celebrities such as f(x) Sulli and Krystal and SHINee as their spokespeople.

From what I understand so far, the Etude House Pink Bird Blogger program is a global blogger program, sponsored by Etude House in Korea. It entails the blogger being sent Etude House 'Pink Boxes' every month, filled with the newest and cutest products. I'm pretty sure it is every month, but they haven't been very clear with the details and are a little iffy with replying. Also, I contacted some fellow pink bird bloggers who said that they got sent like 1 or 2 then didn't get anymore...so I'm really not sure if I'm receiving the June one :/ I hope so though! I've had an absolutely amazing experience with this May box. ^_^

Firstly, what happened was that Etude House Global messaged me on my Facebook Page telling me that I had been chosen for their blogger program. They then sent me this box really quickly, about a week and a half after contacting me. My only complaint for them is that they never reply to emails! Though pretty sure they get like 1000 emails a day so I guess it's quite understandable. For those who want to become Pink Bird Bloggers themselves, make sure you are following their various pages: Facebook and Instagram, as they update on when they are looking for Pink Bird Bloggers sometimes :)

This beautiful box came in the mail in the morning and I dug straight into it. I was super pleased with the condition it came in, and Etude House obviously put a lot of thought into how these products are presented. The packaging was completely pink, even the postal bag it came in! And when opening it, it revealed the gorgeous, signature Pink Box. This one isn't quite as fancy as previous ones, but it's that touch of simplicity that I love. The box also says 'Dear girls, Roses are pink, Violets are Blue, Sugar is sweet, So is Etude, Welcome to the Play House' on it, which I think is a nice touch as it takes the traditional love poem and turns it into a very sweet catchphrase.
And the big reveal! Inside is just as pretty as the outside. The products are carefully wrapped with bubble wrap and lined with delicate, tissue paper. They've also added a 'Pink Letter', which explains the products in the box. This product is usually their featured or newest product in their line.
This month it was ALL about the Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion! I've seen countless promotions for this product, such as the one below:

I received the Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion in 'Magic Pink', but there's also two other shades, called 'Magic Peach' and 'Magic Mint'. I felt that this colour complemented my skin tone decently so I was pleased they sent me a useable tone. Perhaps, I would have done better with the Magic Peach though, since my skin shade is a little more yellowy than pink and it would have blended better. This product comes from Etude House's Baby Choux collection. It's a makeup primer/base cover that you'd want to put on before the BB cream.
The Magic Any Cushion comes in this big compact, which I almost found a little cartoonish. The design itself is simple, but the size makes it feel very chunky in my hands.
You click the button at the front open to reveal the first layer! This includes a clear, large mirror which fully covers the opposite side of the lid, and a soft powder sponge with the Etude House label on it. You'll soon see that this compact was maze-like for me with it's layers :)
The application sponge itself is very soft and absorbent and of course, pink! It's little label on it's back makes application of the primer extremely easy.
Ok, let's head over to the next level. Lift the application sponge holder, to reveal....a little flap. I think this was just placed there for protecting the product originally, however I threw this out afterwards. It's just a sticky bit of paper that covers the actual product anyhow.
Ta-da! How weird is that spongey texture? It surprised me a little at first, as I was expecting the product to be a powder rather than liquid form. I prefer it this way though, because it's very easy to collect and apply and it feels a lot less drying on the face than powders. This Magic Pink primer has the ability to smooth out pale skin into healthy and vibrant skin.
If I press on the sponge with my finger lightly, a lot of the primer liquid gathers near where I am pressing. This shows me that there is sufficient amount of makeup within this compact, therefore = quality and quantity.
Now let's see if I try it on my own skin...
Firstly, I have no idea why half my arm looks tanned here and the other half looks like it's never spent a day in the sun, but I'm pretty sure that's the lighting!! (NOT SOME WEIRD TAN)
Okay, so if I just dab it against my skin, you can see visible lightening. As I haven't blended it in yet, it contrasts the darker undertones of my skin. This product has a multi-function formula though in that it brightens, corrects tone, cools, takes care of wrinkles AND is a sunscreen (SPF34).
After blending it in though, you can hardly see it! I think this is because I either didn't apply quite enough or that my actual skin tone is darker and so the light colour gets lost when blended. However, you can see the slightest tinge of colour change which is actually quite more pronounced in real life. It's smoothened the tone of my skin, making it seem a little more even, as well as taking away some of the olive-y shade. Plus, the Magic Any Cushion gives my skin a shimmer, so my skin seemingly glows, adding to that healthy appearance that is desired. Overall, I liked this product but would have liked it a little more apparent on the skin. I'm really happy that it was very light and refreshing-feeling though, and not too chalky at all, like a lot of powders or base makeup.
Finally, I've got to include a scan of the Pink Letter which gives you some more information and tells you how to apply the Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion :)

The second item in the Pink Box was this ADORABLE macaroon case for the Precious Magic Any Cushion Compact. I really adored this because it means I can carry around my makeup in such a delicious looking bag and keep it safe from damage. The mini bag is very princessy and once again, simply designed.

The pattern inside reminds me of candy for some reason. I love the stripes and the thought gone into the whole design of this mini bag.
The compact also fits PERFECTLY inside so that's pretty awesome :)

Finally, I was also sent 3 of Etude House's Play Nail Polish Collection. Below, I found a photo (credits to the owner, I'm sorry I forgot where I found this pic) of most of Etude House's basic Play Nail Polish collection (not including the glitter polishes and texture ones). These are absolutely gorgeous and come in a large variety. I can't be sure but I think I was sent Number 2, 34, and 70?

These colours are very pastel and dessert-looking to me. I like the mint colour most of all. It seems to me like they sent me the colours of the 3 different Magic Any Cushions - just realised that when writing this ^_^ You can see their shades in the swatches that i made on the paper below.
They've each got a tinge of glitter in them, which I found added to that fairy/princess image of Etude House, but the glitter could also get a little annoying when applied. (Which you will see later!)
Firstly, the pinky colour is very, very light and delicate on the nails. It isn't too noticeable and can be used when you're feeling girly and don't want anything that's too loud on your nails. I especially like the little dessert cartoons that border the top of the bottle. > <
The brush itself is very standard, nothing special that may help it apply better but I found that I could use it easily. Also the scent of the nail polish is nothing out of the ordinary either - I wish it smelt like strawberries or something though c:
Here is what it looks like on my nail. I think it's really lovely and subtle, so I would definitely wear it out a lot. The glitter specks look just fine in this particular colour, however, you'll have to apply the nail polish a couple of times. (As you can see, I'm not nail expert)
Next is the beige/peachy coloured polish. This one is so similar to the pink shade when applied, however it is a little lighter and more yellowed. It's also perfect for when you want to coordinate an outfit sophisticatedly and would prefer that your fingers weren't drawing all the attention.

Finally the mint colour! I loved the mint colour the best because this is in fact, my favourite colour. My only problem with this one though is the glitter specks in the nail polish. Whilst the other ones are more subtle and less noticeable, the strong opacity of this nail polish in combination with the glitter makes the nail polish look more bumpy rather than glittery on application. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but I suppose it could make for an interesting texture on your nails. :)
And that's it! It was a really fun experience reviewing this month's May Pink Box from Etude House! You guys know that I love Etude House products and I wasn't let down this time.  You can find these beauty items online anywhere! I really hope to be reviewing another box next month, but that's all up to them :)

Hope you enjoyed reading this LONG but exciting review. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
